The Calendar Call explores the logic and patterns behind Eastern European Slavic and Finno-Ugric folklore and traditional cultural practices.
This isn’t about pretending we live in the past. It’s about recognizing that beneath agricultural practices, seasonal rituals, celebrations, and folklore are ways humans have used for generations to orient themselves within time—and asking what we might learn from them now.
We’ll look beneath these traditions to understand the logic connecting them. What happens when a period of growth comes to an end? What needs to be gathered? What needs to be finished? What kind of work belongs to the season ahead? And how do we prepare for what is coming without constantly rushing toward it?
Together, we’ll take stock of where we are in the year, consider what deserves our time and energy during the months ahead, and use the traditional calendar as a framework for creating greater stability, direction, and a sense of purpose within our modern lives.
